About UsWelcome to the new official site for the Iota Omega Chapter of Sigma Chi. Congratulations to our new pledge class, the Alpha Psi's. Check out our link to Recruitment for upcoming rush events. Our chapter here at Loyola Marymount was chartered by Sigma Chi International Fraternity in 1991. In September 1987, the founder, Brad DuBois, transferred back to LMU from the then recently installed Cal Poly Pomona (Theta Sigma) Sigma Chi Chapter where he had pledged and was initiated. After transferring back to LMU, Brad missed the brotherhood that Sigma Chi stood for and so he placed a simple ad in the Loyolan Newspaper “In Hoc Signo Vinces - Meet at the Lair October 23rd 1987 at 7:00pm.” On that night Arnel Aquino, Jon Ekoniak, Kirk Ogawa, and Bob Parker joined Brad at the Lair to begin what would become Sigma Chi Alpha. The five founders embarked on gathering the Alpha Pledge Class and founding a colony, and by January 1989, the colony was officially recognized by Sigma Chi International Fraternity.
By April of 1990, the founders submitted their Charter Petition and one year later, on April 27, 1991, the Iota Omega Chapter was installed. The initiation of the 120 undergraduate and alumni members of "Sigma Chi Alpha" colony marked the first moment any members of the LMU community were initiated into the Sigma Chi Fraternity. -In Hoc Signo Vinces
